πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Presidents Week at Tiny Toes

Tuesday – Friday Plan

This week at Tiny Toes, we explored leadership, colors, history, and real-life skills through simple hands-on activities. As part of the Tiny Toes community, I love bringing meaningful themes into playful learning.

🎨 Tuesday – Watercolor Portraits

We began by exploring three important presidents:

George Washington Abraham Lincoln Theodore Roosevelt

Children used red and blue watercolor to gently paint over black-and-white portraits.

We talked about:

πŸ”΄ Red means brave. πŸ”΅ Blue means calm and kind.

We counted 3 presidents, 3 colors, and 3 stars.

Fine motor skills + early history awareness blended beautifully together.

🎭 Thursday – Paper Plate President Masks

Using paper plates, cotton, and ripped paper, we created:

Lincoln’s beard with black paper Washington’s white hair with cotton

Children practiced:

Ripping paper Gluing in order Observing facial differences

We kept it simple:

β€œLeaders help others.”

β€œLeaders are kind.”

The masks made history feel playful and alive.

πŸ’΅ Friday – Making Our Own Wallets

On Friday, we connected presidents to real life by looking at copy money:

$1 – George Washington $2 – Thomas Jefferson $5 – Abraham Lincoln

We folded construction paper to create simple wallets and placed our copy bills inside.

We talked about:

Money helps us buy food and books. We keep our money safe. We work, we earn, we save.

This activity supported:

βœ” Folding skills

βœ” Number recognition (1–2–5)

βœ” Responsibility

βœ” Real-world awareness

πŸ’› Social & Emotional Connection

Each day we asked:

β€œWhat makes a good leader?”

The children said:

Share Help Be kind Take turns

And that may be the most important lesson of all.

🐎 All Week – Lunar Horse Craft

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, we painted and cut out horses.

We talked about how:

Long ago, leaders rode horses. Horses move forward. A new year means moving forward too.

Children practiced:

βœ” Cutting

βœ” Painting

βœ” Following outlines

βœ” Observing shapes

The horse became a symbol of strength, energy, and fresh beginnings.

πŸ”’ Number of the Week: 3

β€œThree is strong.

A triangle has 3 sides.

Leaders help 3 ways β€” kind, brave, calm.”
